National Ice Cream Day

source
Can we take a moment to celebrate one of my favorite days? It's National Ice Cream Day, which, as an ice cream lover, is basically as exciting as Christmas morning was when you're a little kid. I want ice cream every single day, and if I could, I would have it! I get that from my Grandmother (AKA Gram). But let's be real people- I'm a woman whose metabolism is really starting to slow down- these things no one prepares you for when you enter your mid-late 20s, and I'm not a five-year-old anymore (sigh). Plus, I'm lactose intolerant so I don't eat it.

BUT...you bet your bottom dollar that I'll be at Sonic tonight for their celebration:

Growing up in CT we had a ton of local ice cream shoppes (Hanks and Salem Ice Cream- if you're from CT and you know what I'm talking about, comment below) so it was easy to feed my habit. I've noticed in the Midwest it's all about frozen custard. What the heck is that? It's ice cream made with eggs. I was a little skeptical to try such a thing, but being ice cream obsessed I had to see what the buzz was all about...

We got Concrete Mixer's from Culver's (Reese's for me, obvi.) this past weekend and I have to admit, frozen custard is pretty darn good. It basically tastes the same as ice cream but is sweeter. The only downfall is that it melts quicker than ice cream so eat it quickly! After trying frozen custard, I feel more like a Missourian.

Ice cream lovers unite and let's celebrate this amazing dessert! What's your favorite?

  1. Ice cream is my favorite! There is a place here in Arizona called Sub Zero, and it truly is the best ice cream I have ever eaten.

    God bless,
