Make the Most out of your snow day

The weather has been cold subfreezing in Missouri the past couple of weeks and we had a pretty substantial amount of snowfall a couple days ago. So much so that businesses and nearly every school were shut down. With the Northeast and the Midwest experiencing snow days and closures, I figured I'd give you some tips on how to make the most out of your snow day!

First things first- light a candle. Candles are soothing, make everything smell amazing and are a perfect way to de-stress. After all, you deserve to relax being that this is a rare "day off". Next up, use a facial mask to refresh and detoxify the skin. My current favorite is InstaNatural's Dead Sea Mud Mask* which is perfect for those with sensitive, acne-prone skin. Holla if you still have acne in your mid-late twenties (insert raising hands emoji here)!

Yes, it is exactly what it says it is... mud. Mud from the sacred Dead Sea contains minerals beneficial to the skin not only as a detoxifying facial mask, but also as a body treatment to relieve muscle aches. When used as a facial mask, it leaves my skin feeling fresher than if I used my exfoliating brush which is saying a lot! I apply it in the morning before my shower (because it's easier to rinse off) and it has the most amazing cooling effect which is perfect for my acne-prone skin. The mask itself is also very smooth, so it doesn't have a dirty "muddy" feeling despite the name. Also, it's a great dupe (and less than half the price ) of the oh-so-popular GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD mask. Who would spend $70 on a 1.2 oz facial mask when you can spend less than half on a 16 oz. mask? Mind blown.

Another fun thing to do is to take your puppy out to play in the snow! This is Zoey, our 5-year-old chocolate lab we rescued from animal control a little over four years ago. I tried to get a picture of her actually playing, but her idea of a fun snow day is eating the snow (hence the white snout). How precious is she!

The next thing I love to do is to enjoy a steaming cup of either tea or hot chocolate. After taking Zoey out to play in the freezing cold, a hot beverage is a must to thaw out. My favorite hot drink (besides coffee of course) has been a cup of skim lactose-free milk with two teaspoons of Ovaltine. It is so yummy and contains tons of vitamins and minerals- basically, it's a healthier version of hot chocolate.

And of course, what would a snow day be without TV binge watching? I caught up on season 14 of 19 Kids & Counting and re-watched the last season of Gossip Girl on my snow day. Don't judge.

How do you prefer to spend your snow day? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I wish it would snow here in Portland. I love cuddling up inside my house with my two guys and a snow day would be a perfect opportunity to do that.

    1. I hope you get a snow day soon! Thanks for reading :) xo
