Winter Foundation Routine

Watch my tutorial above to see how I apply my foundation in the wintertime for matte/luminous skin or read my post below!

Winter weather has be all... blah. Even though I have oily skin, my skin turns into some weird half oily, half dry combination and I even start peeling in some areas (sexy, I know). With the freezing temperatures and dry, cold wind, winter can wreak havoc on your skin, causing makeup application to be a little harder versus the warm summer months. Today I'm sharing my everyday winter foundation routine with y'all! If you have combination skin in the winter months, follow along!

Step one: Prime the skin! This is extremely important, especially if you want your foundation to last throughout the entire day (duh, why else would we wear it?). Choose a primer that's meant for your skin type; if you're oily, choose a primer that mattifies, if you have dry skin, choose a luminous primer, if you have combination skin (like myself during the winter months), choose a silicone primer that helps control oils but also adds a healthy glow to the skin. I'm using Studio Gear Cosmetics' Prime Objective Perfecting Face Primer* (USE CODE BB FOR 10% OFF!). It's paraben-free, fragrance-free and has retinol, making it perfect for my acne-prone combination skin!

Step two: Choose a matte foundation and mix it with one that's made for combination skin types. Mixing these two foundations will help control your oils while enhancing your natural glow.

Step three: Set your face with a powder. If you're on the oily side, you'll want to make sure you're setting the spots on your face that get oily throughout the day. I usually set my forehead and chin.

That's it, friends! It's super simple to achieve both matte and luminous skin when your skin is parched from Old Man Winter. What's your skin type? Leave some tips below!
